Staying Healthy in the Heat

Did you know that extreme heat can negatively impact your health? ☀️

Long-term exposure to hot weather conditions can lead to dehydration, dizziness and fatigue. In addition, if you suffer from chronic health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, migraines, asthma, rosacea or autoimmune diseases, extreme temperature can lead to serious health complications.

So what can you do to stay healthy in the heat?

✔ Limit outdoor activity, especially midday when the sun is hottest.

✔ Wear and reapply sunscreen as indicated on the package.

✔ Drink more water than usual and do not wait until you’re thirsty to drink more. Muscle cramping may be an early sign of heat-related illness.

✔ Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing.

✔ Check on your neighbors and have someone do the same for you!
